If I had a dollar every time someone asked me where they should order a king cake from in New Orleans!
After a recent nudge from my friend (thanks Jess!) who couldn’t find my recommendation on this here website, I realized that I need to just come clean and declare my favorite. For the record though, I highly recommend trying as many king cakes you can this season to declare your own winner!
Most people love New Orleans for its true grit. The old is celebrated and revered here. But there is something to be said about the new New Orleans.
There are some areas that needed the renovating and revamping, and the South Market District is one neighborhood that has done it right.
It’s just like New Orleans to take something decadent and make it extravagant. That’s exactly what this city has done with the popular and traditional King Cake. Let’s talk shop. I love spoiling the ones I love with thoughtful gifts. Don’t get me wrong, I love receiving them too, but I am one of those people who thoroughly enjoys going all out for Christmas presents. It’s my favorite time of year to show my friends and family how much I love them. As I get older, I appreciate the thoughtfulness and presentation more and more too. The time and thought that goes into finding that one thing that perfectly fits their personality, wants, needs, desires (ok I need to calm down) all wrapped up in my latest gift wrapping pinsperations…and then the joy on their face…it’s just priceless and oh-so worth it! It’s truly a gift for me as much as it is for them!
