Hi, I’m Danielle and you know that I adore all things New Orleans and food, but you may not know that I am a devoted Game of Thrones fan, I am obsessed with podcasts (and my goal is to have at least one of my own), I have a black thumb that I’m semi-successfully trying to turn green, I’m a soon-to-be yoga beginner, and I’m an MVP trivia team member with robust knowledge in pop culture and music. Oh and speaking of music, my favorite genre is Motown.

I’m really into astrology, especially Chinese astrology, which says that I am a pig. When I first read the personality traits of a pig, I was a little taken aback. It is so dead-on. One of those traits is that I am a pro at being lazy. It’s not that I’m lazy all the time, it’s that when I make time to be lazy, I am a prof-FESH at it.

I dream of owning a little pink home in the Lower Garden District and sharing it with friends and family and guests one day.

As much as I love food, I’m about to make some changes to my diet. I have rheumatoid arthritis (diagnosed 6 years ago) and recently it’s been affecting me more than usual. One of the main symptoms is a lower immune system, and I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired! One thing that I can control is what does into my mouth. Lately I’ve been following an increasing number of healthy food bloggers on ig, and I’ve finally become inspired to make some real changes in how I eat. I’ve recently bought collagen protein, maca powder and turmeric, just to name a few! The soon-to-be yoga beginner is a part of that too. Stay tuned to see if it makes a difference in my life and if you have any tips for me, please send them my way!

IRL, I’m a financial advisor. After 10 years of various marketing jobs, I took a leap of faith to join my brother & dad at their practice in 2015. After running from this career since college (which was mostly me running from my dad’s expectations & fear of repeating my ECON class on a daily basis), I finally realized this is exactly where I need to be. Finance, money and numbers have always fascinated me and I’m obsessed with planning, so it’s actually a natural fit. That and it’s in my blood (my mom is an accountant, to boot.) And just in case you’re wondering, those ECON classes really don’t have anything to do with what we do! I am Series 7 & 66 certified and I will begin studying for my CFP this summer.

Don’t worry, I’m still a total marketing nerd! Social media to be more precise. I love staying on top of new ways to evolve (both as an individual and as a business) in the social marketing world. I love sharing my knowledge and discussing it with others so much, like I could literally sit for hours and just nerd out about things like Instagram vs. Snapchat, Facebook ad hacks, new apps to increase my email list…the list goes on and on. I love it all! I love hearing feedback on if this is something you’re interested in too because I’ve been considering sharing on a bigger level lately.

I suffer from comparison anxiety from time to time on Instagram. Showmeyournola is my side passion/hustle, and it’s been so exciting to see it grow through the years. Now that it’s finally bringing in revenue, I want to invest even more time into it. But alas, life is very busy. I have to remind myself that I’m doing my best with the time I’ve got to spend on it. I wanted to share that because I know it’s something we all feel. We all want to do more. To give more. But there’s only 24 hours in a day! Comparison is the thief of joy. Comparison is the thief of joy!

That being said, I am finally getting a logo and branding suite made! I’ve always loved Ciera Design’s work, and I can’t wait to see what she creates for me. I should be able to reveal it by the end of June!

Shortly after the logo is completed, she will get started on designing my first e-book! It will focus on where to eat and where to shop, and it will be divided by New Orleans neighborhoods. This is how I like to travel: by the hoods. I’ve been compiling info + pictures of my favorite shops, restaurants and dishes for the last past 4 years, and it will be hard to narrow it down but you will love getting straight to the cream of the crop! It will be an awesome resource for locals and tourists alike, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

If you want updates, sneak peaks and first dibs on specials + giveaways for it, then be sure to subscribe here for all things Nola By The Hoods E-book by showmeyournola.

Now it’s your turn! I want to know who you are, seriously, introduce yourself! Tell me how you landed here, and if you have any Nola, food or biz questions, leave them here too so I can help ya. I’ll meet you below in the comments!

  1. Well, I was your waiter a couple of times back in the days at baru (Your Fav restaurant), that’s where we got to meet each other. I heard about showmeyournola minutes before you walked into baru, the owner told the whole staff that a famous food blogger was coming and he wanted to make sure that you were hosted by the best waiter (me-joking) ! I introduced myself and of course I flirted at you (You were/are perfect my dream girl) but my long hair didn’t quite cut it for you, then I told you that I was a musician and all went downhill… . In order to survive in my attempt to conquer you I had to change my game really quick I gave you a couple of margaritas, made you laugh and a couple of months and dates later a cut my hair and the rest is history, now I’m proud to say that you are my wife and that I love you with all my heart! I admire your passion for New Orleans it’s unique and truly!
